Book Reading: Anne Helen Donnelly 'Ori the Octopus'
17th Aug @ Berkelouw Balgowlah
Join us in store where local childrens author Anne Helen Donnelly will be reading from her amazing Ori the Octopus series to kick off this year's CBCA Book Week!
Each year across Australia, the CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature and you will often see children's book character parades and talented librarians creating amazing displays. This year, local childrens author, Anne Helen Donnelly, is reading from the CBCA Picture Book of the Year as well as her beloved Ori the Octopus series all about friendship and helping others.
Anne lives in Sydney with her husband and her two young children. She has always loved to read, write, draw and crafts. And having her children has allowed her to do more of all of that! She has taught dance, been an entertainer at childrens parties, and reads and teaches art and craft. She paints childrens canvasses and makes greeting cards. She has now also created YouTube videos to entertain children. Anne has been encouraged to share her story-telling, her illustrations and her creativity resulting in Ori the Octopus.
Ori the Octopus was closely followed by Ori’s Christmas, both released in 2017. In 2018 Anne combined another of her passions, care of the environment, in her third book Ori’s Clean-up, which was released in July. Anne is a member of the Children’s Book Council (cbca), the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Australian Society of Authors (asa).
