This is undeniably the best debut novel I have ever read.

Lost and Found is a beautifully human tale about how a little girl, an old lady, and an old man, learn to grieve and to laugh, to cry and to smile, to fear and be thrilled. While a story about death and loss wouldn't always be called uplifting, this book had me smiling far more than it had me crying. 

Karl, Agatha and Millie are some of the most carefully crafted and touching characters that I have had the pleasure of reading. Davis has created such vivid and relatable protagonists that you cannot help but be swept away by their story. This is not fantasy, this is stunning reality. 

If you only read one book this year, or one debut Australian author ever, make it Lost and Found and make it Brooke Davis.
