NOTE: Henry Savery (1791-1842) was an English businessman who was transported to Hobart in 1825 for forgery. In 1829 he wrote these sketches of Hobart life for the Colonial Times and later wrote the first Australian novel Quintus Servinton first published in 3 vols in Hobart in 1830-31.
