Previous owners name-stamp on front free end-paper and throughout. Slight toning on end-papers. (Bell's Indian and Colonial Library Edition) NOTE: Story of the South African War up to September 1900 when the war was thought to be all but over. Includes mention of the Australians at Elands River in August 1900 of which Conan Doyle wrote "When the ballad-makers of Australia seek for a subject let them turn to Elands River for there was no finer fighting in the war".
