London: William Phillips 1822. 8vo. Orig. half calf over marbled boards (spine rebacked with original slightly worn spine strip retained; edges worn). (lxiv 472pp.). With fold. hand-coloured map and plan fold. chart and text-illusts. Lacking engraved plate of geological and mineralogical apparatus but with extra leaf between pp. 58-59. Previous owner's signature on title-page dated 20 Oct. 1823. NOTE: William Daniel Conybeare (1787-1857) and William Phillips (1775-1828) were distinguished British geologists who collaborated to produce this book which became a major influence on the development of geology in Britain. Phillips was also one of the founders of the Geological Society of London in 1807.
