From the author of the highly acclaimed "The Long March" A Year in Tibet is Sun Shuyun latest book.
You are invited to join the author for conversation about her new book.
QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AND BOOKS WILL BE SIGNED
Sun Shuyun grew up in China and has always been fascinated by Tibet and Buddhism, in A Year in Tibet she takes the reader to a tiny and isolated Tibetan village, known for its anti–Chinese stance.
A Year in Tibet is an insight into the relationship between the Chinese and Tibetans,
the history behind it, and the way the two interact in the 21st century.

The Berkelouw Books Young Writer's Award 2008
The Young Writer’s Competition, now in it’s third year, opens on the 1st August, 2008 with two categories:
Category 1: 9-12 years - 500-1,000 words topic is open
Category 2: 13-16 years - 1,000-2,000 words topic is open
The closing date for entries is 5.00pm 7th September 2008 and prizes of book vouchers ($100.00 and $150.00 respectively) will be awarded to the winners at the Junior Book Club Meeting on Sunday 14th September 2008. Entry forms available at the Book Barn and all local schools in the Southern Highlands area.

Children's Sunday Morning Book readings
The readings continue on Sundays at 10.30am during term time. All are very welcome!

Our Rare Book Section in Berrima, just a stone's throw from the Book Barn, is open Mon-Fri 8:30-4pm and Saturday 11:00-3pm. There are over 40,000 rare items in this section and many are listed on our website: http://www.berkelouw.com.au. A must for the discerning collector.
