Berkelouw Books is pleased to present a two hour workshop in conjunction with the Faber Writing Academy.

What makes a good short story? How do you start writing one? How do you finish it?

And how can you get it published or enter it in a competition like the Pittwater Short Story Award, sponsored by Berkelouw Books in Mona Vale?

In this engaging, entertaining and enlightening two hour course, writer Sunil Badami offers his tips on starting, writing, editing and finishing a readable – and possibly publishable – short story.

Suffering from debilitating writers’ block a few years ago, Sunil talked to some well-known writers and editors to formulate his Golden Rules for Writing a good short story.

These simple and easy to follow tips helped him write four short stories in a month, all of which were published that year, and which he’s continued to use since.

With a combination of discussion, writing exercises, concrete examples, group workshopping and some insider tips, Sunil will help you find all the inspiration and encouragement you’ll need to start writing, polishing, and finishing your own short story.
